'Alive at Williamstown Pier' was my first leading role for the Griffin Theatre Company.

Poetic,  fractured,  hilarious,  sad as hell.

I've done several plays at The Stables (Griffin's home space) including the award-winning 'Clark In Sarajevo'. It's my favourite theatre in Sydney, despite its postage-stamp stage. Actually, because of it. It's Intimate Theatre to the power of ... very intimate.

This role - a member of Australia's parliament, and a severely bipolar father of two - was an autobiographical piece written by Neil Cole. Neil had been "outed" as bipolar by another politician, who questioned Neil's ability to do his job. Neil suffered the whole gamut - manic highs to devastating lows. And he charted the whole spectrum through the play. It was difficult , hair-raising ... and very odd to perform in front of the man himself. It was a privelege and a theme park ride all at  once.
